Bethel Lane Remodel & Addition

These homeowners contacted us to help them design and build an addition on the backside of their Bloomington home. During the design process, our architects Ernesto Castaneda and Alex Minor, met with the clients multiple times to discuss their wishlist and project timeline. The team was able to design an addition that featured a larger, relocated kitchen over a finished basement and a deck was designed to access the yard from the kitchen via double doors.

At the start of the construction process, we were tasked with removing the existing back porch where the addition would go. There was also a cistern below the existing porch that presented some challenges early on.

After demolition and excavation were complete we moved on to pouring the footers and laying block. Our in-house masonry team of Jim Oliver and Jake Loudenbarger did wonderful work to have the foundation ready for framing. Garrett Kane and Rick Dyer built the entire addition before we even made an opening to the existing home! This helped to keep the project separate from the day-to-day lives of the clients for as long as possible. Commercial Service provided all HVAC and Plumbing and was excellent as usual.

The clients took care of some of the interior finishes on this project and we helped them through the final stages to completion. The new basement space serves as a family room while the new kitchen and deck above redefine the living floor of this home and integrate seamlessly into the existing structure. These clients were an absolute joy to work with and they are thrilled with their new kitchen, basement, and deck!
