These clients came to us with the idea to remodel one half of their living floor into a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and a larger bathroom. An aging in place renovation was a priority and informed many of our recommendations and ultimately the final design by our in-house architect Ernesto Castaneda. Three-foot wide pocket doors, wider hallways, zero threshold shower, grab bars and wheelchair friendly guest bath were all integrated into this intensive remodel.
We were able to work within the square footage of the existing floor plan and make better use of the space with help from Stoll’s Woodworking. Their maple and cherry cabinetry throughout offers an elegant visual interest with the newly installed red oak flooring. One of the most noticeable changes was to the entry to the home from the garage. A small tiled mudroom area with a bench that leads into a much wider hallway makes getting in and out of the home more comfortable and easy. We were also able to reclaim some garage space to provide more storage adjacent to the casework in the new entryway.
Clutch Fabrication fabricated and installed the updated railing for this project and we installed a poplar top cap to match the trim in the home. By taking on the design challenge of reconfiguring the existing space with specific goals in mind, our team was able to work very closely with the client from start to finish. The end result was a completely reimagined space that offers more functionality.
