Cardinal Stage Company

Cardinal Stage Company

Loren Wood Builders community partner Cardinal Stage Company has been a Bloomington institution since 2006. The current mainstage season is proving to be another huge success. On the heels of family classic Peter Pan, Cardinal will be rolling out it’s latest production, Sex With Strangers, February 9-25.

Laura Eason’s Sex With Strangers is in its third year of production around the country. Cardinal is bringing the show to southern Indiana for the first time. According to Cardinal Managing Director Gabe Gloden, “The title is intentionally provocative…it’s a metaphor for contemporary relationships that addresses the question of whether you ever really know if someone is true to themselves. It’s about authenticity online and offline.”

LWB is proud to support Cardinal Stage Company. For information about showtimes, ticket packages or other ways to support Cardinal, please visit their website: http://www.cardinalstage.org/.

Hoosier Heights!

Hoosier Heights!

We are thrilled to be involved with the move that Hoosier Heights Indoor Climbing Facility has planned from their old facility south of town to the McDoel Baptist Church at 1008 S. Rogers. The bouldering area will be in the north sanctuary, while the tall walls (roped climbing) will be in a new steel building that we are just beginning to build. Stay tuned for frequent updates on progress and pictures of the action. In the meantime, you can still visit them at their current location at 5100 S. Rogers.

Lotus Education and Arts Foundation

Lotus Education and Arts Foundation

Most of you know that I am vocal supporter of the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation. Many of you also know that I’m on the board of directors and that Loren Wood Builders will be donating the project management and labor to do the buildout on their new space. I hope that all of you will take the time to read bellow for more information on how to donate and on a limited offer that currently stands for some matching funds. Please help us out on providing funding for this fantastic organization and help them create a permanent space that will add value to our community for years to come.

Sycamore Land Trust

Sycamore Land Trust

As long time supporters of Sycamore Landtrust, we were really excited when they asked us to help them create space for parking and access to one of their newest (and coolest) properties that they have protected and preserved for public use. Furthermore, the Amy Weingartner Branigin Peninsula Preserve is located right in the middle of our Shawnee Bluffs neighborhood, so the partnership made a lot of sense from a practical standpoint, as well. Being in one of the most environmentally sensitive areas of the county, erosion and runoff had to be handled very intentionally, so this parking lot includes a heavily engineered permeable parking area, along with a hard service driveway, handicap parking, plantings and hardscaping, and trailhead. While a parking lot is not a particularly attractive or exciting project on the surface, this project was very exciting for us in what it represented: Access to public and preserved land, along with an opportunity to collaborate with one of our favorite local resources, the Sycamore Land Trust. We hope you’ll come out and use the new driveway and parking area to start your hike on the newly accessible preserve.
