As part of the larger office buildout, the design team incorporated an architectural wooden slat wall. Our Finish Carpenters fabricated Birch lumber to achieve an exceptional look with no exposed fasteners and clean lines. Where our finish team really excelled was with the scrupulous layout working around exposed ductwork and doorways seamlessly integrating glass, drywall, and wood. We are really excited with the way this detail turned out.

The challenge in any contemporary project or design is the execution of the highly complicated processes or movements that on the outside appear effortless. The FAR gate was no exception. We were asked to take the lead in assembling a team that could conceptualize, fabricate, and install this unique piece in this beautiful space designed by architect, Malane Benedetto. This came together as a collaboration between Loren Wood Builders, Clutch fabrication and Brownsmith Studios.

Donna Lafferty reached out to Loren Wood Builders’ Commercial team when she decided to move to a new location from her established place of business on 10th street to the former surgery center located at the corner of 2nd and Rogers. The timing was critical since the existing Spaah building had been sold and there was a requirement to vacate within 30 days.

We enjoy supporting the local arts in Bloomington and had the pleasure of working on a remodel with Bloomington Center for Creative Glass. The remodel was focused on their “hot shop” where glass will be blown and fused. The project was made more interesting by the fact that the space was previously used for light industrial and several changes had to be planned to support the added power consumption of the various kilns and glass blowing equipment.

This job has really been an example in satisfying the needs of the client regardless of the potential for huge pitfalls and uncertainty. LWB was asked to provide pricing for the finishing of approximately 12,000 square feet of office space on the first floor of the Foundry 304 building, downtown Bloomington. Initially, the project was to be a “White Box” build out in which the original GC would turnover an enclosed space complete with a drywall ceiling and exterior walls. Following the turnover, LWB would finish the offices as a standalone space separate from the original structure.
