Custom Ship Ladders
Jacob Hyer, one of our lead carpenters, had worked with these clients on the original buildout of their home under another builder and they reached out to us asking if we could help them finish out a few loft areas in the kid’s bedrooms that had not been finalized during the earlier phase of work.
Jacob, along with lead carpenter, Thaddeus Walker, and Alex Minor from our design team, worked with the clients to flesh out the details and the design on these ship ladders. For such a small project, there were lots of details to manage, including existing aesthetics in the home, code compliance, continuous gripability on the rails, adequate traction on the treads, and feasibility for installation.
Jacob and Thaddeus executed the buildout flawlessly and, along with quite a bit of help from the rest of our crew, managed to heft these things up on the roof and bring them in through an upstairs window for the install.
The planning and templating paid off, as the install itself only took a few hours and the finished product meshes seamlessly with the existing architecture and finishes. We are super proud of the team’s work on this and proud to have had some impact on this beautiful home.
