Remodel

Hawthorne

Our Hawthorne street client lives in Massachusetts but visits Bloomington frequently. She contacted us about revitalizing her 1950’s childhood home which she now owns. We replaced all of the original finishes with new selections, but kept the original mid-century modern design. Highlights of this remodel included Bruce Johnson’s exquisite refinishing of original the wood flooring and John Stoll’s modern take on period cabinetry. LWB finish carpenter Bob Stright rebuilt the back-lit valances and site supervisor Jabez Harris brought the limestone hearth back to life and installed hand-hewn limestone skirting on the new patio stoops. The final result at the Hawthorne site is a beautifully restored house with modern conveniences that is energy efficient. This was a particularly rewarding project because we preserved and modernized Hawthorne while maintaining the feel and design of a treasured family home.
