Hoosier Acres Remodel
Our clients reached out to us wanting to update their family home in Hoosier Acres. The scope of this project included major interior and exterior work. The interior work consisted of two new bathrooms, built-in casework for the primary bedroom closets, and new carpeted stairs and doors that lead down to the basement.
The original bathrooms consisted of unsuable spaces and division walls, a large walk-in closet, combined with a corner garden tub that took up a large part of the bathroom. Removing most of the original divisions allowed our team to create a roomy primary bath suite including a large barrier-free walk-in glass shower, and a freestanding soaking tub with an expansive window that overlooks the woods behind the house.
The exterior scope included removing and updating the worn-out screened porch. The design focus was to create a new generous porch while more seamlessly connecting the house with the existing backyard pool, and also creating extra space to entertain on multiple decks. We added a recessed built-in fire pit with bench seating and wood storage beneath the seats.
A larger, more substantial footprint for the porch was constructed. A wood ceiling in light tones of driftwood highlights the interior screen porch finishes. A terra-cotta 360° gas-burning fireplace allows for three-season use. Other screen porch details include a painted brick wall from the original house and a large-format custom-built sliding screen door. We also installed a large sliding door from the house to the porch. New black-framed windows were installed on the entire home which helped tie together the whole aesthetic.
