New Construction

Kickapoo, A McCanse Builders Project

This uber-efficient dwelling was featured as one of the “World’s Greenest Homes” on the Discovery Channel’s Planet Green network. Originally conceived of as a private residence, it now serves as a demonstration home and meeting center for The Kickapoo Mud Creek Nature Conservancy. Rick led the team in construction of the 2,000 square foot home, featuring photovoltaic solar panels as well as passive “storage” of the sun’s heat in the south-facing Trombe wall. Recycled cardboard and newspaper provides the insulation. Local and sustainable materials and sources were used throughout. Greene & Proppe Design, Architects.
