Lumos Hair Salon

Loren Wood Builders Commercial team was asked to manage the transformation of a retail space into a hair salon. The previous tenant in the space was a retail shop with no facilities present to support a hair salon. Before joining our team, Architect Ernesto Castaneda was hired to design the new space for the salon and recommended us for the build-out. Kelly DeWeese, the owner of Lumos, reached out to the LWB team to implement his designs, and work began.

The project included demolition of existing interior spaces and opening up walls to allow the addition of plumbing for hair washing stations. Additional power requirements and placement of receptacles for power for the individual stylist stations were added at specified heights and locations making it convenient for the future stylists.

While this was not a large or overly complicated project it had some challenges including working through movement of HVAC, relocation of lighting and ensuring our work did not interfere with the overall building’s fire and security systems. Fortunately, we were able to tie plumbing into existing drains and pull new supply lines without the need to cut into the concrete floors.

The end result meets all the functional needs of the client and has become the go-to place for haircuts by many of the LWB team. We wish Kelly and the whole team at Lumos the best as they continue to grow in this truly unique and fun space!
