New Construction

Modern Wooded Hideaway

This home in Brown County is nestled in the woods near Yellowwood State Park. Our clients worked with Delv Design out of Indy for the architectural drawings and we were super excited to bring their vision to reality.

The home combines some of the southern Indiana barn aesthetics of standing seam weathering steel and Poplar board & batten exterior with a contemporary bent on the overall design and interior. We were able to utilize lumber that was cleared from the site for the interior hardwood floors, ceilings, mantels, and other design elements in the home.

This home has lots of unique features and special spaces that the clients desired and had always envisioned when thinking of their dream home.

The main room and kitchen have large vaulted ceilings and a double-sided fireplace that shares the wall in the bedroom. There is a three-season room off the back deck that is connected to the master bedroom and incorporates a reclaimed Malm wood stove to allow for year-round use. The master bathroom incorporates a large walk-through shower with a river rock floor.

Other unique features include a dog kennel niche in the master bedroom, lighted art niches in the 22′ tall wall of the great room, and lighted handrails on the stairs. We also installed concealed strip lighting to show off the poplar ceilings in all of the main living areas. There is a handy storage/safe room under the front porch.

The masonry piers and front entry wall were done by Elite Masonry and the standing seam roofing & siding were done by Bell Roofing. The deck structure was reinforced in order to accommodate a future hot tub on the corner of the wrap-around deck.

For performance & comfort, we used LP Weatherlogic sheathing & tape to make the home airtight, then incorporated an Energy Recovery Ventilator and a high-efficiency multi-stage HVAC system from Commercial Service. Windows were the Kolbe Vistaluxe series with high-performance glass.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with these clients & help fulfill their dream of leaving the city and moving to their ultimate country home in Brown County.
