Brummett’s Creek

The traditional farmhouse gets a high-design update in this newly constructed home on Bloomington’s East side. The 12’x12′ pitch of the roof utilizes farmhouse proportions, but the mix of materials (a type of rusted corrugated metal siding called Cor-ten, and natural poplar), combined with sleek elements like Galvalume roofing, rain chains and half-round gutters, really step up the style. Inside, handmade concrete tile, locally cut and milled poplar ceiling decking and local limestone countertops contribute to the home’s natural aesthetic. A geothermal system provides environmentally friendly heating and cooling and will help to earn this home a LEED certification. Architecture by Ernesto Castañeda of BODA.
