American FourSquare

This home is part of the new Bloomington Cohousing community. The homes within this neighborhood, originally designed by Marc Cornett, are all intentionally clustered around each other to create a sense of community and promote the use of shared common spaces, all within a small neighborhood footprint. These clients modified the design plan a lot to add their own personal touch to their home.

This home has an open floor plan that connects the living room and kitchen. Bench seating, with storage, was added under a series of windows in the dining room bump out. The entry closet and laundry room were combined into a single space to open up the entry. Upstairs, built-in storage was added in the hallway, and the primary bathroom was redesigned to fit a double basin sink and vanity with a small walk-in shower. Bifold doors were placed in the dividing wall between the two bedrooms upstairs to combine them into a single primary bedroom with a study and reading area. The cabinetry and built-ins were installed by Stoll’s Woodworking.

With it being in an intentional community this home has a screened-in front porch and back porch to allow for ample outdoor seating areas to further enjoy and connect with neighbors. All the exteriors are painted with bright colors and are connected with sidewalks and are surrounded by a 10-acre nature conservancy.
