Energy-Efficient Modern Home
Built on the north side of Bloomington, this new home showcases the kind of complex, high-efficiency residential construction that defines our work. The homeowners came to us after hearing from multiple sources that we were the right team to bring their vision to life. For the design scope, we recommended Springpoint Architects as a trusted partner who we believed shared the vision and values for the project. From there, we collaborated closely to build a modern, energy-efficient home that supports the needs of their family. The result is a seamless blend of thoughtful design and high-performance construction.
This project brought together a long list of functional and aesthetic goals, from control, comfort, and durability to innovation and beauty. The house includes custom cabinetry and woodwork throughout, with standout elements like a slat wall on the second floor, an open-riser staircase, and acoustical Akupanels in the grand room and dining room ceilings. A four-story elevator provides easy access to all levels of the home, including a top-floor roof deck and lower-level FEMA-rated storm shelter. The indoor sauna, home gym/dance studio, theater, and outdoor pool and spa make it not just a place to live, but a space to enjoy and entertain.
Built with comfort and energy efficiency in mind, the home includes geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels with backup batteries, SPAN electrical panels, and a continuous supply of fresh air through energy recovery ventilation. T-stud framing, exterior insulation, and dense-pack cellulose contribute to a quiet, well-insulated environment. Outside, a combination of limestone, metal roofing, and fiber cement siding with integrated rainscreen creates a clean, modern look with excellent durability.
The construction process required thoughtful integration of cutting-edge systems with high-end finishes. Every detail, from lighting design to HVAC, was tailored to the family’s desire for full control, comfort, and long-term resilience. As with many of our projects in South Central Indiana, the result is a home that balances form, function, and craftsmanship.
Now that they’re living in the home, the clients have embraced all it has to offer. Whether hosting friends by the pool or salsa dancing in the home studio, they’re making full use of the thoughtfully designed spaces. Their feedback on our team’s communication and execution, “an order of magnitude better than any other company they’d worked with”, means the world to us. This was a project where we got to build not just a house, but a truly personal home.
