Lake Monroe Overlook

Perched on a ridge overlooking Lake Monroe, this home offered an ideal location for our clients. Our team helped them envision several key improvements to make the residence truly their own. Our team touched nearly every level of the home in this full remodel, with a complete kitchen renovation, custom staircase and curved handrail, remodeled primary and upstairs baths, custom flooring, and a thoughtfully designed basement for visiting family and grandchildren.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGE

The most significant change was expanding the relatively compact kitchen into the adjoining breakfast nook area. Working closely with our cabinet suppliers at Stoll’s Woodworking, we designed and built-in seating that preserved a cozy breakfast nook while dramatically increasing the kitchen’s functionality. The expanded layout accommodated new countertops, modern appliances, and ample storage, creating a space that flows seamlessly for both daily living and entertaining.

THE MAIN LEVEL, STAIRCASE & PRIMARY BATH

Our team removed ceramic tile flooring that didn’t suit the clients’ aesthetic and replaced it with rich walnut-stained hardwood. The existing honey-toned wood floors were refinished to match, requiring meticulous attention to detail to ensure consistent lines and color throughout the open floor plan. This extensive flooring transformation unified the entire main level with warm, sophisticated continuity.

The home’s curved stairwell, which greets visitors upon entry, was fully renewed, with treads, risers, and skirts sanded and refinished to match the flooring. A custom curved handrail was built in-house, and all new newels, balusters, and railings were installed to elevate both the structure and the design. New hardware and railings were picked that complement the client-selected lighting fixtures, including a striking chandelier.

The primary bathroom underwent a full remodel. We replaced the glass-block shower with a sleek clear-glass enclosure, added a ceiling-mounted rain shower head, and swapped the built-in jacuzzi for a freestanding soaking tub with a matching filler. New tile flooring, backsplash, cabinetry, and heated towel bars completed the transformation.

Also near the kitchen, we designed and built a custom live-edge floating vanity for the powder room, paired with the clients’ hand-picked vessel sink, a detail that adds organic warmth to the space.

UPPER LEVEL & BASEMENT

The upper level saw the conversion of a jack-and-jill bathroom into two separate, private bathrooms, with new fixtures and custom vanities from Stoll’s Woodworking installed throughout. The primary bathroom received updated casework and fixtures as well. A hidden door, designed to look like a built-in bookcase, was installed from one bedroom into the attic space above the laundry room, adding both function and an element of surprise.

In the basement, we transformed the unfinished space into a welcoming suite for family visits: a bedroom with an ensuite bath, an exercise room, and a playroom. The blank slate allowed our design team to create purposeful spaces from the ground up. Throughout the bathrooms, we installed Brizo Vettis faucets and fillers, along with two wall-hung TOTO water closets, bringing modern luxury to this lower-level retreat.

The result is a home that honors its stunning lake views while better serving how this family lives, from daily routines in an expanded kitchen to weekend visits with grandchildren in thoughtfully designed spaces below.
