Mid Century Modern
This project represented one of our team’s most exciting opportunities recently to breathe new life into a special home. This beautifully preserved mid-century modern home, built in 1960, was designed by a noteworthy architect of that era, Jasper Ward. While we’ve had the opportunity to work on many mid-mod homes, this one was exceptional in both the integrity of the original design and the well-preserved nature of the structure itself. The family that had initially built the home had also owned and occupied it until very recently, and it had never been remodeled.
Thus, when our current clients purchased the home, while it certainly needed updating, most of the structure and stunning architectural features only needed rehabilitation rather than wholesale replacement.
Our scope of work in this project included gutting almost the entire home down to the studs, updating the building envelope and mechanicals, and then painstakingly refinishing and rehabilitating the original interior. While the kitchen, bathrooms, and almost all interior finishes are new, we salvaged the original stone, glass, and all interior/exterior redwood, which our team meticulously refinished and preserved.
