Osteria Rago

We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to renovate this 1880’s carriage house that had most recently been the original Blooming Foods Co-op location. Situated just off of Kirkwood in downtown Bloomington, this renovation had us gutting the former grocery and exposing all of the original structural elements. Once the wood ceiling joists, limestone walls, and concrete floors were laid bare, we carefully tuned them up and highlighted them as the main aesthetic of the space. The project included adding a small addition towards the alley and custom millworks in the form of locally sourced re-claimed barn-wood siding, custom local stained-glass, poplar ceiling in the addition and many custom steel elements. We are very excited to be a part of Bloomington’s vibrant restaurant scene and doubly excited to be able to help renovate and repurpose this historic building for a fresh use.
