We created an outdoor kitchen space for our current client’s mother at this home a few years ago. This spring our architects, Ernesto and Tucker, were asked to design a screened room addition. We explored a few different options and locations for the screen porch before landing on the final design, in which we extended an existing gable bump out with a cedar post and beam approach.
The new porch nestles into the beautiful gardens and hardscaping and opens onto a new concrete patio that accesses the outdoor kitchen. When building we left a portion of the new covered space partially open, via a pergola, to allow light into the adjacent bathroom and soaking tub. The pergola also creates a beautiful play of light and shadows across the screen room over the course of the day.
