Rose Street Home

The design goal of this contemporary home (Herndon Design) was to create panoramic views of the outdoors from any vantage point inside the house. Floor-to-ceiling windows along with floor-to-ceiling glass paneling in many interior walls creates drama and open views. The glass railing for the central stair and balcony provided an opportunity for creative use of lighting (back-lit feature illuminates the railing at night). Kitchen windows die directly into the countertops, completing the feeling of unity between the indoors and outdoors.

On the exterior, architectural concrete block and reclaimed old-growth redwood give a nod to the mid-century style that informed the design on this home.
