Scandinavian Loft House

Our design team collaborated with these amazing clients to help them with the design phase of their custom home on a beautiful wooded hillside lot between Bloomington and Nashville. The clients came to us with a schematic plan and a vision and our design team helped transform their sketch into a comprehensive set of construction documents, involving detailed sections, elevations, and structural plans that would guide the construction process.

On the construction phase, we helped put a team together for the clients so that they could GC the home themselves. LWB framed the home and helped out with various other phases of construction, with Jacob Hyer running point for our team in collaboration efforts on the trimout. However, our clients performed the lion’s share of the buildout and finish-work themselves.

The lofted two-bedroom two two-bathroom home is 1,450 square feet and clad in cedar-siding installed by the clients. They also installed and finished their own white oak floors and built and installed all of the custom millwork themselves.

The home is full of custom furniture and unique finds, from their vintage Jøtul stove to the handmade floating vanity in the upstairs bathroom, designed by the clients. Being the owners of SIOSI Design, many of their pieces can also be found in the home, like the Amagansett kitchen island and Zygo sideboard.

We are so proud to have been able to play a small part in this very special project.
