Waterfront Glass Panorama

This project presented another opportunity to collaborate with Brownsmith Studios and LAA Office. As the construction team, we were tasked to bring this one-of-a-kind custom design to life.

The client wanted to create an outdoor space that could also be used as a four-season room while showcasing their surrounding landscape and pond. The high-level program included removing the original post and beam porch and replacing it with a glass-sided bridge connecting to a sunroom that provides a panoramic view of the pond, woods, and fields. The sunroom is wrapped with a 4’ outdoor porch covered with a cantilevered hip roof. The room grows to encompass the porch when the multi-slide doors are open. The sleek steel sub-structure was designed and fabricated to create a minimalistic profile allowing for the use of glass and white oak to be highlighted in the visible construction. Showcased by a low profile standing seam metal roof, glass handrail, dynamic skylight, and large format nesting sliding doors.

The lower level of the main home which opens to the outdoor entertainment area was updated to include a beautiful bar highlighted by backlit quartz countertops and contrasting white oak finishes for the cabinetry by Stoll’s Woodworking. Inside the main home, we milled the old post and beam structure from the original porch and used the framing members for a highly custom coffered ceiling effect in the lower-level bar and recreation room. The new design created a seamless transition of old and new while affording additional area for a pool table and entertainment space.

The outdoor entertainment area is highlighted by the pool, hot tub, custom fire pit, custom grill/bar space, and outdoor heating allowing for three-season enjoyment. Hardscaping and landscaping were added to integrate the new space with the existing natural beauty of the pond and wood backdrop.
