Woodall Sanctuary

Our client came to us with a clear vision for her new home in Bloomington: a tranquil sanctuary where she could unwind amidst nature, yet also entertain guests comfortably while ensuring privacy and connectivity.

Location played a crucial role in our design process, strategically placing the house to provide afternoon shade for outdoor gatherings and sweeping views of the surrounding tall grasses and sunsets from the back. Thoughtful landscaping, including a water feature, added another dimension to the natural setting.

Externally, the home boasts a sleek, bright white finish that contrasts beautifully with the lush greens and yellows of its surroundings. The driveway was meticulously planned to offer glimpses of the roof lines as it gracefully winds through the property.

Upon entry, guests are welcomed by a custom reclaimed walnut entryway and cubbie seating. The floorplan unfolds into a spacious living room, complete with a fireplace and kitchen, with full glass along the back of the house. Adjacent to the main living area, are separate quarters designed specifically for multi-generational living.

Looking ahead, we have designed a secondary structure—a horse barn with an indoor arena—designed to blend seamlessly with the tree line. Our client, an avid horse enthusiast, envisions enjoying this idyllic landscape while horses gallop through the picturesque countryside.
